Painting in Progress

I thought it would be interesting to post a painting in process, so here are the beginning stages of the Parrot tulip painting. I am finding that I 'd like to work looser. I admire some of the techniques I see of the super realistic painters, but I find that although I could learn to paint that way, it isn't fun or exciting to me. I love the look of paint that is alive up close and then falls into place as the viewer steps back. It gives the paintings  life and I think ultimately demands more skill.

I am still finding painting with yellows to be challenging!
