Georgia O'Keefe had a beautiful still life called "Apple Family". She had the ability to communicate the essence of such simple things. I became a fan after seeing her paintings in person. The originals have an energy and an essence that does not come through in photographs. The surprise is that her paintings are smaller than most of the posters that are available of her work. I saw her apple paintings at the O'Keefe Museum last week and came up with this painting.
